10 August 2014: 27th International Lake Zürich Swim from Rapperswil to Zürich
40 individual swimmers and 21 teams from around the world set off from Rapperswil in the early morning with the aim of swimming to Zürich non-stop within 12 hours. The sky was cloudy to start with, but soon the sun came out and the air temperature climbed to 27 °C. The lake was choppy and water temperatures were around 21–22 °C. The extreme swimmer took 7 hours, 43 minutes and 16 seconds to complete the 26-kilometre course, finishing in an exceptional second place.
